What to include on a photography invoice
Along with the basics (your details, the client's details, an invoice number, dates and totals), make sure you cover:
- Shoot date and location
- The date and venue help clients match the invoice to the booking.
- Deliverables
- Number of edited images, formats, prints or albums.
- Usage license
- Commercial usage (where, how long) is often priced separately from the shoot itself.
- Booking deposit
- Record the retainer or deposit as a payment received so the balance due is correct.
Tips to get paid faster
- Take a non-refundable booking deposit and show it on the final invoice.
- Keep licensing on its own line; it makes renewals and upgrades easy to quote.
- Put your cancellation and reschedule policy in the terms.
